Snook Haven and The Suncoast Blues Society present
The 4th Annual Myakka River Blues Festival

Proceeds will benefit the Loveland Village in Venice

Venice, FL-April 17, 2015  Don’t miss the Fourth Annual Myakka River Blues Festival at Snook Haven in Venice on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2015, 11a.m. to 7 p.m.

Snook Haven, Smack Dab on the Myakka River, at 5000 East Venice Avenue, Venice, is a perfect setting for this annual festival venue. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Loveland Center’s Loveland Village in Venice.

Festival headliner and dynamic blues vocalist, Annika Chambers, recently completed her 8 year term as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army (including deployments to Afghanistan and Kosovo). Since coming home, Annika has blazed the Houston blues music scene and was a 2015 Blues Music Award nominee.

Early in the line-up of this year’s performers are the Backtrack Blues Band from the Tampa Bay area. One of Florida’s longest running blues acts, Backtrack has performed with many blues legends, including Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and Greg Allman. This five-piece unit has an upbeat, electric blues sound reminiscent of the early Chicago blues scene.

Playing later in the afternoon is The Pitbull of Blues Band - this Tampa area group was named the 2014 Orange Blossom Blues Society Central Florida Blues Challenge Winner.

On stage 2 there will be a presention, "A Tribute to Jr Wells". Jr Wells was one of blues history's greatest harmonica players and singers of the Chicago Blues singers in the 50's and 60's. A specially arranged show with former alumni of the Jr Wells band, Jody Young as well as Frank Bang, Steve Arvey and local Harmonica players Tony Smith and Bodie Valdez will be featured. They will be joining Sarasota Slim and his outstanding band playing Jr Wells Songs.

Frank Bang, also appearing on Stage 2, has performed alongside Buddy Guy for five years appearing in many television appearances, including the Tonight Show and Late Night with Conan O’Brien.

“We didn’t think this event could get any better – but it has! I don’t know how we can top these great musicians!” say Mike and Justin Pachota, Snook Haven’s owners. The father-son restaurateur team hosts the event in tribute to Snook Haven’s rich music and live entertainment history. “Like last year, the proceeds will benefit Loveland Village.”

The line-up for this year’s festival will appeal to all audiences, with styles from the Chicago blues scene to southern style blues, and nearly everything in between!
